Becoming a Mason, State by State

There is no national Grand Lodge in the United States. Each state, and the District of Columbia, has its own, and it sets the rules a candidate there actually lives by. Pick yours.

Names, links and published minimum ages come from the Grand Lodges' own websites. Where a Grand Lodge does not state an age publicly, we say so instead of guessing. The general process is in How to Join a Masonic Lodge; the Lodge Secretary is always the authority.

Pennsylvania does enough things its own way to have a guide to itself. Once you are in: the three degrees, what to wear, and York Rite vs. Scottish Rite.
